As a general rule, use 80 to 100 mesh. Water supplied to boilers includes substances such as calcium and magnesium which generate hard scale and sludge. Since this scale and sludge can cause valve malfunction, install water softening equipment, and a steam filter (strainer) directly upstream from the valve to remove these substances. Caution 1.
