This force becomes further amplified to the power of AB/AC through the mechanical advantage of a lever and acts on the brake shoe, which in turn, applies a large force to tighten and lock the piston rod. To disengage the lock, air pressure is supplied through the unlocking port, thus disengaging the brake spring force.
