SMC has developed the VXE series energy saving type, 2 port solenoid valve to help with environmental issues.  The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) method was used to allow for less power consumption.  By reducing the energy consumption we have also reduced the heat produced by the coil. This series is available in three styles VXE directed operated, VXED pilot operated, and VXEZ zero differential

The VZ series consists of 4 and 5 port solenoid valves with rubber seal. Base mounted and body ported valves are available with standard, flat cable, DIN rail mounted plug-in and non plug-in manifolds. Various options are available. The VZ series is still available although direct replacements for each series have been implemented.
